The Creative Leader
This aims primarily at post-baccalaureate students interested in leadership theory. The course has four modules. Module 1 covers definitions and foundations of creative leadership. Topics include, What is creative leadership? Why creative leadership? And foundations of creative leadership. Module 2 addresses the facilitative functions of the creative leader. Topics include employee creativity on an individual level; employee creativity and team complexity; and employee creativity and team diversity. Module 3 addresses the directive functions of the creative leader. Topics include directive creative leaders in politics; directive creative leaders in haute cuisine; and directive creative leaders in the arts. Module 4 addresses the integrative functions of the creative leader. Topics include integrative creative leadership and final creative products; and integrative leadership and others’ individual creative products This is one course in the Coursera specialization, Leadership: An Introduction. It examines current trends in leadership theory invoking several disciplines, including business, sociology, philosophy, history, and psychology. To complete this course successfully students should be able to analyze college-level readings and audio/visual presentations into understandable parts, including premises and conclusions; synthesize the results of the analysis into coherent and accurate summaries; and evaluate the results for accuracy and practical applicability. Tools for Exploratory Data Analysis in Business
This course introduces several tools for processing business data to obtain actionable insight. The most important tool is the mind of the data analyst. Accordingly, in this course, you will explore what it means to have an analytic mindset. You will also practice identifying business problems that can be answered using data analytics. You will then be introduced to various software platforms to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data into tools for conducting exploratory data analytics (EDA). Specifically, you will practice using PowerBI, Alteryx, and RStudio to conduct the ETL and EDA processes. The learning outcomes for this course include: 1. Development of an analytic mindset for approaching business problems. 2. The ability to appraise the value of datasets for addressing business problems using summary statistics and data visualizations. 3. The ability to competently operate business analytic software applications for exploratory data analysis.
Capstone: Creating A Sustainability Proposal
Congratulations on reaching the Capstone Class of the Become a Sustainable Business Change Agent specialization. The class will help you apply material from the previous three classes. We have developed a case about a hypothetical ski resort that offers lots of opportunities to develop sustainability recommendations. A second option is do develop a proposal for a change in your company or organization. Or you can do both the case and your own proposal. The goal of the class is to have you practice the entire process from identifying a problem, finding a possible solution, doing analysis to determine the proposed change's financial and sustainability impacts, figure out who to present the proposal and what they need to see to say 'Yes' and develop a budget and implementation plan. It is big assignment, but if you have gone through the material in the first three classes you should be well-equipped for the challenge. We hope that the concepts and tools we have introduced will start you on your way to making positive changes in your company, organization, community and the world.
