Job Description
Job Summary:
The Purchase and Vendor Development Executive is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, goods, and services for the company while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. The role also involves identifying, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure long-term value and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing:
Identify reliable suppliers and source materials or products according to specifications.
Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with vendors.
Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
Track and ensure on-time delivery of goods.
Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
Vendor Development:
Identify and qualify new vendors based on cost, quality, capacity, and delivery criteria.
Evaluate vendor performance using key metrics (price, quality, delivery, responsiveness).
Conduct supplier audits and assessments in coordination with Quality and Technical teams.
Work with vendors to improve performance, solve supply issues, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Develop long-term strategic partnerships with high-performing vendors.
Coordination & Communication:
Coordinate with internal departments (production, inventory, quality control, etc.) to understand procurement needs.
Resolve supplier-related issues and complaints quickly and effectively.
Maintain clear and regular communication with all stakeholders in the supply chain.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
2–5 years of relevant experience in purchasing and/or vendor development (industry-specific experience preferred).
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Knowledge of procurement best practices and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, CPM) is a plus.
Familiarity with local and international sourcing regulations and trends.
