About the job
The intern will work under the dual supervision of the Regional Director and the RO-MENA Communications Resource Leads. The internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international environment, working on critical issues related to sustainable development. The intern will have the chance to develop strategic communication skills, understand the functioning of an international organization, and gain insights into the operational aspects of GGGI.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year) or Master’s program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
Must possess legal right to work in the UAE. For international applicants, a valid visa permitting work or internship in the UAE is required.
Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic or other regional languages is highly advantageous.
Applicants must be available to commit to the full duration of the internship as agreed upon with the supervising staff.
QUALIFICATION
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as the role involves translation tasks.
Strong ability to write and draft various forms of communication materials. Creativity and proficiency in story telling techniques is a plus.
Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content creation software. Skills in graphic design and creating visual content (e.g., infographics) are a plus.
Prior experience in communications, media relations, or content creation is beneficial but not mandatory.
Strong ability to write and draft various forms of communication materials with an emphasis on harmonizing HQ objectives with regional priorities.
Ability to map communications workflows and understanding organizational communications needs
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-cultural environments and engage with diverse stakeholders, including Country Communications Officers, Country Representatives, and Project Managers.
A strong interest in environmental issues, sustainable development, and green growth initiatives.
