Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Promote climate-resilient and conflict-sensitive pastoralist interventions;
Collaborate with the Agropastoralist Programme Manager to develop and refine methodologies for intervention strategies;
Ensure the integration of gender-sensitive and youth-inclusive approaches in project activities;
Spearheaded the implementation of agro-pastoral activities, ensuring timely execution in line with project work plans;
Supervise and provide technical guidance to the Community/Stakeholders Engagement Assistant;
Conduct regular field visits to track project progress, identify challenges, and propose corrective actions;
Support the development of activity progress reports and contribute to donor reports;
Ensure synergy between agro-pastoral components and other project initiatives to maximize impact;
Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team to ensure robust data collection, analysis, and learning;
Engage with local government authorities, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders to facilitate project buy-in;
Support the development of cross-border agreements and cooperation frameworks for livestock mobility and trade;
Represent ACF in meetings related to pastoralism, livestock value chains, and rural development.
Strengthen partnerships with relevant technical institutions, research bodies, and private sector actors;
Ensure compliance with PASCO project communication and visibility protocols;
Support the planning and execution of PASCO agro-pastoral interventions, ensuring alignment with ACF’s FSL policy and international best practices;
Conduct feasibility studies and needs assessments related to agro-pastoralism, livestock market systems, and rural livelihoods;
Provide technical guidance on sustainable livestock production, pasture management, animal health, and value chain development;
Support the establishment and strengthening of livestock producer organizations, pastoral committees, and cross-border marketing groups;
Identify training and capacity-building needs of field staff and local partners, designing relevant interventions;
Support the recruitment and onboarding of field personnel engaged in agro-pastoral activities;
Organize knowledge-sharing sessions, fostering innovation and best practices in agro-pastoral livelihoods.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Animal Production, Agronomy, Agro-economics, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture or other relevant disciplines related to rural development and livestock management;
Minimum of 4 years of experience in core livelihoods, food security, Agro/Livestock related interventions and climate adaptation projects;
Proven experience in managing complex Agro-pastoral projects, including infrastructure development and Value chain support;
Knowledge of climate-resilient agriculture and livestock integration strategies in fragile environments;
Demonstrated expertise in livestock value chains, natural resource management, and pastoral resilience programming;
Prior experience in humanitarian and/or development programs, particularly in conflict-affected settings;
