Job Description
Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical systems and equipment in the steel plant.
This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, designing, and improving mechanical processes related to steel manufacturing, with a strong focus on minimizing downtime and enhancing operational reliability.
Monitor plant equipment performance and ensure minimum downtime.
Lead a team of technicians and fitters; assign daily tasks and ensure safe and efficient execution.
Coordinate with electrical and operations teams for integrated plant functioning.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment including rolling mills, conveyors, hydraulic systems, furnaces, cranes, pumps, compressors, and gearboxes.
Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize machine uptime.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or steel plant environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermodynamics.
Solid understanding of industrial safety standards and preventive maintenance.
Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced industrial environment.
