Position Overview UES is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist/Hydrogeologist to support a variety of water resource and environmental related projects. The successful candidate will have opportunities to support interesting and challenging projects conducting field data collection, data management and analysis, and assisting with report preparation while learning and working under the direction of a Professional Geologist/Hydrogeologist. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level professional interested in working in the water resources consulting environment with ample room for professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Assist with field data collection and organization of hydrogeologic and environmental datasets
- Support hydrogeologic evaluations, including groundwater level monitoring and basic aquifer analyses
- Assist with well installation, drilling oversight, and pumping and aquifer testing activities
- Conduct baseline hydrology monitoring of groundwater and surface water systems
- Perform routine environmental and groundwater monitoring in accordance with project plans and regulations
- Assist with geologic evaluations, including soil logging and subsurface characterization
- Implement and follow approved field sampling plans and health and safety procedures
- Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples using standard field methods
- Record field measurements such as water levels, flow rates, and water quality parameters
- Support environmental site assessments and technical reporting
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, including engineers, environmental scientists, planners and lawyers
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related field
- 1+ years of relevant hydrogeologic or environmental consulting experience
- Working knowledge of groundwater and surface water monitoring methods
- Familiarity with field instrumentation, sampling procedures, and data collection techniques
- Ability to perform fieldwork in varying environmental conditions
- Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Travel Requirements This position requires moderate travel, approximately up to 40% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site wo
