The job: The CDN assistant editor works as a desk editor/producer, assisting other editors with story and image editing, formatting and posting content created by a fast-paced team of 15 full- and part-time journalists to CDN’s website and other platform

. Position details: Full time, benefits eligible, newsroom-based with some hybrid work allowed. Shifts will include evening and occasional night and weekend work. Requires residence in Whatcom or Skagit County, Washingt

· Obtaining and publishing non-deadline stories from othe

· Assisting with assembling and scheduling news alerts and roundups via email newsletters

nd other delvery systems.

· Monitoring and maintaining newsroom master planning list when

ries are schedled/published.

· Regularly participating in weekly editor’s meeting, weekly staff meetings and ot

er newsroom plnning sessions.

· Helping to coordin

Essential skills

· Keen editing skills with an eye not only for text errors but story gap

· Intimate familiarity with Associated Press

· Strict attention to detail and fact-checking of news copy on tight deadlines in a digital-first newsroom
