About the Role

The Llama Ventures Analyst position is a part-time, on-the-ground opportunity designed for students or early-career individuals who want to gain direct exposure to venture capital, early-stage startups, and emerging technologies. You’ll work closely with our investment team across sourcing, research, diligence, and internal initiatives at a rapidly scaling VC firm.

This role is part-time, with flexibility based on candidate availability. While the minimum commitment is part-time, the role can expand up to 40 hours per week for candidates seeking deeper involvement.

Location: San Francisco, CA (in-person)

Hours: Part-time (flexible), with the potential to scale up to full-time (40 hrs/week)

What You’ll DoInvestment Research & Analysis

• Conduct deep research on frontier tech sectors, emerging markets, and competitive landscapes
• Support investment diligence through market modeling, financial analysis, and synthesis of technical information
• Evaluate early-stage companies across AI, infrastructure, developer tools, and emerging technology categories

Founder & Portfolio Support

• Assist portfolio companies with research, product exploration, ecosystem mapping, or special projects
• Contribute to founder meetings, deal memos, and preparation of internal investment materials

Platform & Firm Building

• Support development of internal tools, workflows, and operational processes
• Create research briefs, resources, and intelligence for founders and the investment team
• Contribute to emerging LP, community, and brand-building initiatives

About You

We’re looking for candidates with curiosity, grit, and a strong analytical foundation.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or early-career candidate
• Ability to commit to a part-time schedule (with optional expansion to 40 hrs/week)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with Notion, Airtable, or CRM tools is a plus
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities

Additional Details

• Position Type: Part-time (with option to scale up to 40 hours/week)

• Compensation: $25–$30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications (with potential to convert to full time at a higher rate)
• Overtime: Eligible for overtime in accordance with California labor laws
• Pathway to Full-Time: High-performing Analysts may be considered for a full-time Analyst role
