Job Description
Program Dates: The 2026 internship program will begin on May 18, 2026, and end on July 31, 2026.
Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
Pay Range: $16 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.
Shore Description Of The Project
This internship project supports Property Management in improving the accuracy and completeness of County facility asset records. The intern will conduct structured, floor by floor data collection across County buildings using a standardized SOP and field checklist. Responsibilities include coordinating with Building Managers, capturing photographs of room context and fixed assets, documenting manufacturer data plates to record make, model, and serial numbers, and noting any missing or unreadable information. The intern will upload all collected data into the designated asset management system and provide weekly progress updates, while also recommending process improvements to streamline the SOP. The work directly supports Asset Essentials implementation, GIS integration, preventive maintenance planning, and long-term capital planning. This project strengthens the County’s asset inventory efforts while providing hands-on experience in facilities and asset management within local government.
Department Responsibilities
Maintain and operate County buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure.
Provide building maintenance, energy management, and facility operations services.
Acquire and manage real property for County projects, including surplus property.
Maintain stormwater systems to reduce flooding and protect water quality.
Deliver surveying, mapping, and GIS support services to County departments.
Internship Program Responsibilities
A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable). Seeking a graduate level student currently enrolled or recently graduated in a master’s degree program in related field.
Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
