Job Description

Job Summary

The Head of Operations (HOP) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company’s downstream oil and gas operations. This includes overseeing the end-to-end supply chain of petroleum products—procurement, transportation, storage, and distribution—while ensuring strict compliance with industry regulations, operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The HOP plays a pivotal role in driving business continuity and achieving corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction to the operations team across multiple depot locations.

Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive operations plans to achieve organizational targets in product supply, distribution, and depot management.

Design and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operations and logistics, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Oversee day-to-day depot operations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of dispatches, product receipts, and inventory balances.

Establish strong liaison and maintain compliance relationships with regulatory bodies (NNPC, PPMC, NMDPRA, NPA, etc.).

Identify, register, and evaluate the performance of third-party service providers including transporters and depot contractors.

Conduct regular market intelligence and pricing research to support strategic procurement and supply chain decisions.

Ensure timely procurement and distribution of petroleum products based on market demand and supply schedules.

Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the operations budget, ensuring cost efficiency and financial performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or any related field.

A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is an added advantage.

Relevant certifications in Oil & Gas operations, HSE, or Supply Chain Management are desirable

Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in downstream oil and gas operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.

Proven track record of managing multi-site depot operations and logistics in a fast-paced environment.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Deep understanding of the downstream oil and gas industry, including regulatory frameworks and market dynamics.

Proficiency in operational software systems and Microsoft Office Suite
