Work Locations and Remote Flexibility
The Power BI Business Analyst role is based at one of two client facilities:
- Little Canada, Minnesota (just outside downtown St. Paul)
- Abbott Park, Illinois (north of downtown Chicago, near Six Flags)
The position requires on-site presence at one of these locations. However, there is flexibility to work remotely one day per week. This remote day is not fixed and can be adjusted based on meeting schedules and personal needs, such as appointments. Fridays are commonly chosen as the remote workday due to lighter meeting loads.
Required Skills
Minimum 6–8 months of hands-on experience with Power BI
Ability to answer basic Power BI questions (e.g., setting up report refresh, handling many-to-many relationships)
Comfortable facilitating requirements gathering with business partners
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Not afraid to speak with senior leaders and stakeholders
Bachelor’s degree (required for potential conversion to full-time employee)
Preferred Skills
Experience working in multicultural teams across different continents
Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and data lake architecture
Relevant certifications in Power BI or related technologies
Typical Day Overview
A typical day for the Power BI Business Analyst includes a variety of tasks that support business needs, data analysis, and team collaboration. The breakdown of daily responsibilities is as follows:
40%: Gathering and refining business requirements through meetings and calls with stakeholders.
20%: Documenting user stories and translating business needs into technical specifications.
10%: Documenting data ingestion and transformation processes.
10%: Participating in Agile meetings, including daily stand-ups with engineers and scrum masters.
5%: Attending architectural review sessions to ensure alignment with technical standards.
5%: Supporting testing of new functionality and validating deliverables.
10%: Providing support to end users, engineers, and addressing help desk tickets.
The analyst is expected to work autonomously, facilitate conversations with business partners, and follow up on any clarifications needed by the development team. Flexibility and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Interview Format
The interview process for the Power BI Business Analyst role will consist of a single video interview. Each interview session will be scheduled for approximately 30 minutes. The structure of the interview is as follows:
