Job Summary
The Public Health Officer is responsible for promoting and protecting community health by developing, implementing, and monitoring health programs. The role involves disease prevention, health education, data collection, and collaboration with healthcare providers and stakeholders to improve public health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, implement, and evaluate public health programs and initiatives
Conduct community health assessments and identify health needs
Monitor and report on disease trends, outbreaks, and health risks
Educate the public on health issues such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention
Develop and distribute health education materials
Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and healthcare providers
Ensure compliance with public health regulations and policies
Collect, analyze, and interpret health data for decision-making
Participate in immunization programs and awareness campaigns
Respond to public health emergencies and outbreaks
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Education, or related field
Master’s degree (MPH) is an added advantage
1–3 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates may be considered)
Strong knowledge of public health principles and practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
Good organizational and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data tools
