Formulation Specialist

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Product Formulation & Development

Develop and optimize skin butter formulations using shea butter as the core ingredient.

Formulate products such as body butter, balms, creams, and emulsions tailored for various skin types.

Incorporate natural oils, botanical extracts, active ingredients, and preservatives within safe and effective concentration limits.

Ingredient Research & Selection

Evaluate and source high-quality raw materials, focusing on natural and sustainable ingredients.

Ensure all ingredients comply with local and international cosmetic regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU, COSMOS).

Stability & Compatibility Testing

Conduct stability, microbiological, and compatibility testing to assess shelf-life and product safety.

Analyze and adjust formulations based on physical, chemical, and sensory test results.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and process documentation.

Prepare necessary documentation for regulatory compliance, safety assessments, and product registrations.

Collaboration & Innovation

Work closely with marketing, branding, and production teams to translate customer needs into innovative products.

Keep up with industry trends, consumer preferences, and new ingredient technologies in natural skincare.

Quality Control and Production Support

Assist the production team in scaling up lab-tested formulations for manufacturing.

Monitor quality assurance processes during production batches to ensure consistency.

Requirements:

Degree in Cosmetic Science Chemistry Biochemistry or a related field.

Proven experience in skincare or cosmetic formulation preferably in a natural product company.

Deep understanding of the properties and applications of shea butter and other natural emollients.

Familiarity with preservative systems pH balancing and product stability.

Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.
