Backend Developer

Alqea Limited is developing an IoT data platform for MIEC, a solar-powered indoor climate system for off-grid households in Nigeria. We are looking for a Backend / Cloud Developer to build the cloud infrastructure for receiving, storing, and visualising sensor data.

*Responsibilities*

Set up AWS IoT Core to receive sensor data via GSM

Design and implement cloud database (DynamoDB or PostgreSQL)

Build backend APIs for data access and device management

Develop a web dashboard for monitoring and diagnostics

Integrate USSD/SMS access using Africa’s Talking API

Set up alerts for system anomalies

*Requirements*

Experience with Python or Node.js

Experience with AWS (IoT Core, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)

Experience designing REST APIs

Basic frontend knowledge (React or similar)

Experience with IoT systems is an advantage

USSD/SMS integration experience is a plus

*Details*

Contract: 3 months

Location: Lagos, Nigeria (remote optional)

Potential for full-time role after contract
