Job Description
Job Purpose
To ensure that all hatchery operations, including egg handling, incubation, and chick processing, meet internal and regulatory quality standards.
The role supports healthy chick production, biosecurity, and compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and verify incoming hatching eggs for weight, cleanliness, and shell quality.
Monitor hatchery environments (temperature, humidity, airflow) and ensure equipment calibration.
Supervise sanitation and disinfection procedures in incubation and hatching areas.
Conduct random sampling of chicks for quality grading, deformities, and weight.
Document hatchability rates, mortality, and quality deviations; recommend corrective actions.
Enforce biosecurity protocols across all hatchery operations.
Support audits by regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with animal health standards.
Collaborate with veterinary, production, and logistics teams to maintain chick viability.
Train staff on hygiene and product handling procedures.
Report any non-conforming procedures or deviations immediately to supervisors.
Requirements
B.Sc. / HND in Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field.
Minimum 3years’ experience in a poultry hatchery or animal production environment.
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and hatchery hygiene standards.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
