Key Responsibilities :
1. Platform Design and Architecture
- Develop scalable, secure, and interoperable IT platforms to support medical imaging, patient portals, and other healthcare applications.
- Design cloud-based, hybrid, or on-premises infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity.
- Integrate systems with standards like HL7, FHIR, or DICOM to enable seamless data exchange across healthcare systems.
2. Security and Compliance:
- Ensure platforms comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (U.S.), GDPR (Europe), or other regional data protection laws.
- Implement robust cybersecurity measures, including encryption, access controls, and audit trails, to protect sensitive patient data.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.
3. Technology Evaluation and Implementation
- Assess emerging technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, IoT) for applicability in healthcare settings.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to select and deploy hardware, software, and networking solutions.
- Oversee the migration of legacy systems to modern platforms while minimizing disruptions.
4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management.
- Work with clinical staff, administrators, and IT teams to align platform capabilities with healthcare delivery goals.
- Translate business and clinical requirements into technical specifications.
- Provide guidance to development and operations teams to ensure platform reliability and performance.
5. Performance Optimization and Scalability
- Monitor platform performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure low latency and high uptime.
- Plan for scalability to accommodate growing data volumes, such as from wearables or genomic data.
- Implement analytics and monitoring tools to track system health and usage patterns.
6. Innovation and Strategy
- Contribute to the organization’s digital transformation strategy by leveraging technologies like AI, machine learning, or blockchain for healthcare use cases (e.g., predictive analytics for patient outcomes).
- Stay updated on industry trends and advise leadership on long-term technology roadmaps.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS and Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in On-Premises Platforms from various software (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Veeam, Rubrik, Qumulo…) and hardware vendors (HPE, DellEMC, Mellanox, Cisco, Pure,…)
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), APIs, web servers, and Operating Systems on Windows and Linux.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and interoperability frameworks.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., IAM, SIEM, firewalls).
- **Regulatory Knowledge**:
- Deep understanding of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, GDPR) and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with risk management and data governance in healthcare.
- **Soft Skills**:
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical and clinical teams.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex system challenges.
- Leadership and project management abilities to oversee cross-functional initiatives.
- **Education and Experience**:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in IT architecture, 2–3 years in healthcare or a regulated industry would be a plus.
- Certifications like TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CISSP are a plus.
