• Spearhead the fabrication and testing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
• Drive R&D initiatives and translate concepts into scalable, space-grade optical systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Develop photonics-based test environments and conduct rigorous validation of optical systems.
• Take ownership of end-to-end product development, from concept to deployment in orbit.
• Help build and mentor a world-class engineering team as we scale.
Requirements
• Strong foundation in optical systems and their applications in communication technologies.
• Solid understanding of digital communication principles (e.g., modulation, signal processing).
• Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as Lumerical (FDTD, MODE, INTERCONNECT), MEEP, TIDY3D.
• Experience in fabrication and testing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
• Proficiency in scripting and modelling using MATLAB and Python.
• Ability to design and implement photonics-based test scenarios and validation.
• Eagerness to take initiative, thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and own projects from idea to execution.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Optics, Photonics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in optical system design or photonics preferred but not necessary—exceptional early-career candidates or fresh graduates with strong project or research experience are welcome.
Nice to have
• Experience in space-grade systems or aerospace/defence projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to engineering challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills—clear articulation of ideas and technical concepts is key.
• Passion for space technology, innovation, and building transformative systems from the ground up.
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: Competitive, based on experience
• Equity: Generous equity package – we believe in shared ownership and want you to grow with the company
• Perks: The opportunity to build something impactful, a flexible work environment, and a chance to be part of a growing spacetech company at an early stage
