Overview:

The MEP Design Manager is instrumental in realizing the vision for luxury residential projects by overseeing the design and integration of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. This leadership role demands a combination of technical proficiency, design innovation, and strong communication skills to ensure compliance with regulations while enhancing the overarching architectural aesthetics.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5+ years of extensive experience in MEP design, systems and project management, preferably within the luxury villa real estate, high-end residential, or hospitality sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership: Spearhead the development and design of MEP systems, ensuring they are in strict alignment with project specifications and industry standards.

Coordination: Foster collaboration among architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to create a cohesive building design that balances aesthetic value with functional MEP systems.

Technical Expertise: Provide advanced knowledge in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems to guide team decisions and influence design approaches.

Plan Review: Execute comprehensive reviews and approvals of MEP drawings and specifications, confirming that all documentation is accurate and adheres to relevant codes and regulations.

Cost and Schedule Management: Manage budgets and schedules related to MEP design and implementation, ensuring fiscal responsibility while maintaining adherence to timelines.

Problem Solving: Identify potential design conflicts and compliance risks proactively, addressing issues swiftly to protect project timelines and integrity.

Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise junior engineers and drafters, promoting an environment conducive to professional development through guidance and task delegation.

Communication: Maintain open channels of communication with clients, team members, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, translating complex technical information into easily understandable terms.

BIM Implementation: Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to improve design accuracy, coordination, and overall project visualization.

Compliance: Ensure all MEP designs comply with legal, regulatory, and safety standards, adhering to best practices in the industry.

Required Skills:

Software Proficiency: Expertise in BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD) and additional design tools necessary for effective coordination and clash detection.

Technical Skills: Comprehensive understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design principles.

Leadership and Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of guiding teams and effectively conveying concepts to technical and nontechnical stakeholders alike.
