Job Requirements Education:Bachelor's degree Work experience:3 years Language skills:English Job Summary Contract Type:Full time The Accounts Specialist is responsible for ensuring a smooth functioning of financial accounting processes in accordance with GIZ financial management and accounting procedures. Services will be delivered for various projects and program clients as well as project partners of the GIZ Agricultural Cluster in close collaboration with the GIZ country office. The accountant specialist is part of the Finance Unit in the Agricultural Cluster and contributes to the high-quality and timely performance of the unit Responsibilities He/she performs the following tasks: Finance Ensure that all generally accepted accounting principles and GIZ rules and guidelines are adhered to. Responsible for bank withdrawals, management of daily cash fund (cash) and daily reconciliation of both cash and bank; preparation, documentation and booking of cash and bank vouchers for further processing by the GIZ Country Office. Carry out general accounting functions - checking of invoices, ensuring that all payment vouchers, invoices, receipts and supporting documents are available according to GIZ standards Compile, prepare and submit complete financial documents for the timely monthly accounting, in addition follow up on monthly error sheets and accounts receivable/liability clearance. Preparation and remittance of withholding tax for project level consultants Responsible for timely calculation and payment of travel claims as well as office utility bills Prepares for Internal or external audits. filing and archive documents according to GIZ’s regulation. 1. Other duties/additional tasks Regular communication with internal and external clients Reporting without delay to the Senior Finance Manager on all matters arising with regard to financial administration and compliance with rules. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Finance and Administration management. 2. Required qualifications, competences and experience Qualifications Minimum of BA in Accounting, Finance, Business administration, auditing or related field At least 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position, preferable in an international organization. Previous experience working with GIZ is an added advantage 3. Other knowledge, additional competences In-depth working knowledge of ITC technologies, e.g. accounting software, preferably WINPACCS Accounting, SAP based programmes as well as MS Office, in particular Excel, TEAMS High flexibility and strong self determination to internalise and adapt to changing accounting processes and programs Sound understanding of confidential data handling and data protection Gender-sensitive team player with interest to work in a multicultural team Good knowledge on the English and Swahili language, knowledge of German language is an added advantage Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, e-mail, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) Personal qualities: High level of confidentiality Flexible to take on new tasks and service-minded Able to work well under pressure and think/plan ahead Able to work well with others Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management Timing and Duration of Assignment up to 31st December 2025 Duty location Nairobi Submission of Application Vacancy Reference Number: GIZ/ARD/05/03/2025 GIZ Kenya is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
