Junior Backend/Data Developer (6-Month Internship) (JHB Onsite)

Duties & Responsibilities ENVIRONMENT: A fast-paced Financial Risk Specialist seeks an ambitious coder to fill the dual role of a Junior Backend/Data Developer to join its team for a 6-Month Internship with the possibility of going perm. You will support the development and maintenance of Backend systems for client and internal applications, while contributing to the initiation and early-stage development of new application projects. Applicants will require a Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification in Backend Development/Computer Science or related field and be skilled in C#, Java, Microservice Architecture, MySQL, JavaScript, Git with exposure to UML & Linux. DUTIES: API Development and Integration – Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, supporting data exchange and integration with third-party services. Work within established standards to ensure secure, scalable and efficient APIs. Database and Data Management - Data Management, including query optimisation and data validation. Support data handling processes to maintain accuracy, integrity and performance for both ongoing systems and new applications. Backend Development and Maintenance – Support Backend Development for existing clients and internal applications. Ensure efficient data processing and secure handling of sensitive data, such as personal information. Technical support for clients and internal staff – Provide 1st Line Support for technical issues, troubleshooting application errors and guiding users through solutions. Frontend frameworks (Basic knowledge) – Possess a basic understanding of Frontend frameworks, primarily to assist with integration, rather than developing complex Frontend features. REQUIREMENTS: A Diploma or equivalent qualification or course in Backend Development, Computer Science, or a related field is acceptable. C# Java Microservice Architecture MySQL JavaScript Git UML & Linux exposure Advantageous – Exposure to Business Intelligence (Qlik Sense/ NPrinting, etc.). Exposure to Integration Development, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), SAAS software as a service space. Exposure to Integration/ Frontend. ATTRIBUTES: Problem-solving. Adaptability.
