Head of Legal

The Head of Legal - PAN India for Pacifica Companies will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of our extensive real estate development portfolio across India. This role will provide expert legal counsel to senior management, manage complex litigation, ensure rigorous regulatory compliance, and mitigate legal risks associated with large-scale land acquisition, mega-project development. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Indian real estate laws, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in managing high-stakes legal matters for a large, multi-faceted real estate organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Legal Leadership:

• Provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership on complex legal matters, including large-scale land acquisitions, infrastructure projects, and strategic partnerships.

• Anticipate and proactively address emerging legal risks and opportunities in the dynamic Indian real estate market.

• Land Acquisition and Mega-Project Development:

• Oversee all legal aspects of mega-project development, including infrastructure development, township projects, and commercial complexes.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable land laws, environmental regulations, and infrastructure development guidelines across diverse jurisdictions.

• Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

• Manage and oversee complex litigation and dispute resolution matters, including high-value arbitration, mediation, and court proceedings.

• Effectively manage relationships with external legal counsel and ensure cost-effective legal representation.

• Regulatory Compliance and Governance:

• Ensure strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including RERA, environmental laws, SEZ regulations, and other relevant statutes.

• Develop and implement robust compliance programs and policies to mitigate regulatory risks across the organization.

• Stay abreast of evolving legal and regulatory landscapes and provide proactive guidance to senior management.

• Sophisticated Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including joint venture agreements, development agreements, financing agreements, and EPC contracts.

• Ensure that all contracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and aligned with Pacifica strategic objectives.

• Team Leadership and Management:

• Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.

• Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and ethical conduct within the legal department.

• Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external legal counsel.

• Represent Pacifica’s interests in industry forums and engage in proactive advocacy on key legal and regulatory issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university; Master's degree in Law (LLM) preferred.

• 15+ years of experience in real estate law, with a proven track record of success in managing complex legal matters for large-scale real estate organizations.

• Deep understanding of Indian real estate laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

• Extensive experience in land acquisition, project development, litigation, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
