MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Description

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment within the pelletizing plant.

This role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and contributing to safe and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pellet plant machinery such as indurators, balling discs, conveyors, screens, pumps, fans, and gearboxes.

Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective repairs to reduce plant downtime.

Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.

Assist in the installation, commissioning, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report mechanical issues promptly.

Ensure adherence to safety procedures and plant operational standards during all tasks.

Work closely with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to coordinate maintenance activities.

Participate in shutdown maintenance and turnarounds, ensuring tasks are completed within time and quality standards.

Maintain housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and around equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.

Minimum 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a pellet plant or similar heavy industrial environment.

Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment.
