Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Financial and Management Reporting
Prepare monthly management reports and conduct comprehensive performance analysis by location, category, and period, including comparisons with prior periods and budgets.
Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
Analyse and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with existing policies.
Develop departmental financial reports to enhance awareness and performance review.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts based on business needs.
Support departments in the budget-making process and variance analysis.
Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts to help the business make informed decisions.
Working Capital Management
Maintain and update the monthly cash plan to ensure smooth business operations.
Review and approve all payments, ensuring complete documentation and accuracy.
Review daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Ensure timely completion of creditors and debtors reconciliations.
Review and approve sales credit notes.
Review and approve petty cash expenses and respective reimbursement.
Prepare and maintain a monthly report of undelivered sales invoices by branch and combined.
Keep a record of advance payments to suppliers monthly.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
Review tax returns and ensure taxes are paid accurately, properly, and on time.
Reconcile tax ledger accounts with the iTax ledger.
Lead the implementation of new tax regulations and procedures.
Ensure adherence to company policies and KRA regulations.
Leadership and Collaboration
Evaluate financial operations to recommend best practices and controls, identify issues, strategize solutions, and help the organization run efficiently.
Liaise and coordinate with external auditors for smooth year-end audits.
Coordinate with tax consultants and tax auditors for smooth conduct and conclusion of any tax audit by the revenue collection authority.
Liaise with the Banks on any matter that need the Bank’s attention including day to day issues and annual renewal of credit facilities.
Train and enhance competency within the finance department.
Education Qualification, Experience and Skills
5+ years of progressive experience in finance with at least 2 years as a Finance Manager.
Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognised University.
CPA (K) or equivalent.
Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Proficiency in SAP, financial analysis, reporting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all levels.
