Diesel Supervisor

Job Summary

The Diesel Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of diesel-powered equipment and machinery used in mining operations.

This role ensures maximum equipment availability, compliance with safety standards, and optimal use of resources to support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the servicing, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators, drills, loaders, generators).

Assign tasks to diesel mechanics and technicians and ensure timely job completion.

Monitor equipment performance and initiate corrective maintenance actions when required.

Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues related to diesel engines and associated systems.

Enforce safety standards and ensure all maintenance work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Monitor fuel usage, oil consumption, and ensure proper handling of lubricants and spare parts.

Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.

Qualifications and Skills

Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy mining equipment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Strong technical knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, and powertrains.

Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices and maintenance planning.

Familiarity with OEM manuals, diagnostic tools, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
