Junior to Mid-Level VAT Specialist

Responsibilities

Preparing and submitting VAT returns for a variety of clients (monthly/bi-monthly).

Ensuring all VAT transactions are processed correctly and in line with SARS requirements.

Assisting with VAT reconciliations and resolving mismatches or discrepancies.

Keeping track of SARS deadlines and making sure submissions go out on time.

Responding to basic VAT queries from clients or assisting seniors during audits.

Staying up to date with VAT regulation changes and applying that knowledge to your work.

Supporting the team with ad-hoc VAT admin and accounting tasks when needed.

Requirements

A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax (or currently studying towards one).

1–3 years of relevant work experience (bookkeeping, accounting, tax, etc.).

Basic understanding of how VAT works.

Comfortable using accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Xero, Sage).

Good Excel skills and an eye for detail.

Willingness to learn and grow with the team.
