Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform accounting activities including the assigning of invoices, reviewing of invoices, contract agreements, vouchers, receipts and support documents.
Support the payment process of advance requests, invoices and expenses for staff.
Creating vendor and beneficiaries’ templates in the accounting and payment system.
Be responsible for the computation of the weekly VAT withholding and consultancy withholding taxes, their filing and payment
Be responsible for processing of the monthly statutory taxes on various government portals and support in payments for the same.
Be responsible for reviewing and processing of staff expense reports and reimbursements.
Support the Senior Finance and Administration with some aspect of the month end closing i.e. Fixed asset reconciliation.
Be responsible for monthly depreciation schedule, prepaid expenses schedule and staff advance reconciliation.
Liaise with vendors, consultants and staff on bills and payment issues.
Be responsible for supporting the finance managers with mapping of project expenses to fit donor reporting requirements.
Support equipment management and maintenance.
Contribute to the annual planning and budgeting process.
Support a portfolio of Finance and Administration activities or projects including daily support and interaction with technical staff.
Support the Senior Finance and Administration with small contracts management including travel grant and non-donor agreements.
Support the contracting process for consultants in the budgeting and taxation aspect.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional qualification in Accounting, bachelor’s degree in finance with CPA qualifications.
Proficiency in excel and computerized accounting systems.
At least three years work experience in Accounting field;
Knowledge of statutory processing and experience is an added advantage.
Knowledge of budgeting procedures and experience is an added advantage.
Excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills;
Strong math, analytical and technical skills; highly organized, detail oriented and service oriented.
Ability to multitask and cope with changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Willingness to work to meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in verbal and written English language.
Able to meet local travel requirements for the role of up 10% of the time.
