Africa of Our Dream Initiative (AODI) is a nonprofit focused on empowering youth and women across Africa through education, mentorship, and capacity building. Through strategic programs and partnerships, AODI supports the academic and professional advancement of African changemakers.
Role Description
AODI is recruiting volunteer Academic Mentors in the field of Law for its flagship Global Mentorship Program (GMP). Mentors will guide aspiring African legal scholars who are preparing for graduate school applications and competitive scholarship opportunities abroad.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one academic mentorship to mentees pursuing law-related graduate programs
Review and provide feedback on personal statements, research proposals, and academic CVs
Advise on program selection, application strategy, and timelines
Share scholarship opportunities and relevant resources
Help mentees build strong, competitive applications
Join occasional group seminars or panel sessions (optional)
Qualifications
Required:
Currently enrolled in or graduated from an LL.M. program in Law
Strong understanding of the graduate admissions and scholarship process
Preferred:
Have received or applied for competitive scholarships
Available for monthly check-ins and flexible mentoring over 6 months
