Student helper at the Centre for Textile Research

The Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) invites applicants for a student helper position at the Centre for Textile Research, to be filled by 1 august 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant must be inscribed as a student at a Danish University.

Position Description

We are looking for a motivated student to help us in the daily running of the Centre for Textile Research, covering administrative, and research tasks, as well as support for event organisation. Students with particular interests in archaeology, history, art history, and/or ancient crafts, regardless of time period and geographical areas, will be considered, as well as students interested in textiles in general.

Tasks

Your Main Tasks Will Be Assisting With

Academic assistance: Supporting in planning and executing research seminars, workshops, outreach.

Daily support: Meeting facilitation, digital meeting support, booking of rooms, onboarding of visiting scholars and interns.

Making lists of future expenses, travel bookings for guest lecturers, maintaining event calendar.

Practical support in proofreading research texts, and digital image work

Internal and external communication of scientific reports and Centre evaluations, supervision of mailing lists and responding to enquiries

Web and social media: Maintaining the Centre’s webpage and keeping an active profile on various SoMe platforms.

Qualification Requirements

We envisage that you:

Have strong administrative and organisational skills

Are independent and able to work in a collaborative and international work environment

Have experience with social media communication.

Have basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Have more than 1 year of studies left.

A high level of language proficiency in English is required, Danish language proficiency is an advantage.

Terms and conditions

The employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and under the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and IT officers in the state.

The minimum wage is DKK 141,14 (1 april 2025-level). Your salary will be based on seniority.

To be considered for the position, you must be enrolled as a student at university level and an active student.

The position is approximately 8 hours a week, flexible working hours with some weeks busier than others.

The Saxo Institute is dedicated to the study of human societies past and present, with degree programs ranging from History to Ethnology, Archeology, Classical Languages and Migration Studies. With some 1400 students and a staff of 100 employees, the Institute offers a variety of research and library facilities, servicing a vibrant community of tenured scholars, project and visiting researchers and graduate students. The institute hosts a range of leading research centres and externally funded research projects.
