<Job Summary>
LexNiti Law Professional Corporation is a fast-growing, full-service law firm based in Toronto, Ontario. The firm provides comprehensive legal services with a strong focus on immigration and refugee law, as well as family, real estate, business, landlord-tenant, small claims, and criminal matters.
We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant with specialized experience in immigration law, particularly involving multi-jurisdictional immigration applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience assisting with immigration processes not only for Canada but also for international jurisdictions, including applications for visitor visas, study permits, and work permits to countries such as the United Kingdom, Schengen Area countries, Australia, Germany, and other global destinations.
This is an in-office position in downtown Toronto. The role requires a highly organized and proactive individual who can support legal and administrative functions in a fast-paced legal environment.
<Responsibilities>
- Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of immigration applications for multiple jurisdictions, including: Canadian immigration (PR, TRV, study permits, work permits, refugee claims) ; International applications (visitor visas, study permits, and work permits for the UK, Schengen countries, Australia, Germany, and other countries)
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and organizing immigration applications, affidavits, and appeal materials (IAD, RAD, and Federal Court).
- Support counsel in judicial review matters, including document preparation, scheduling, and record compilation.
- Manage client communication, scheduling, and file organization through Clio and related software.
- Draft correspondence, forms, submissions, and legal memoranda under supervision.
- Conduct legal research on immigration, family, and civil matters.
- Maintain detailed tracking of case timelines, deadlines, and court appearances.
- Perform general administrative duties, including managing calls, emails, mail, and office supplies.
- Coordinate document filing, scanning, and client intake documentation.
- Provide assistance across other practice areas (family, real estate, business, landlord-tenant, and small claims) as needed.
<Skills>
- Experience in immigration law (mandatory) - especially in applications, refusals, judicial review, IAD/RAD, and refugee matters and International immigration applications (visitor visas, study permits, and work permits for multiple countries)
- Knowledge or exposure to other legal areas (family, real estate, LTB, small claims, business law, criminal) is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Hindi or Punjabi is a strong asset.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to a fast-changing workload.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, AI, Adobe, Google Workspace, Clio or similar).
- Positive attitude, self-driven, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Ability to commute daily to downtown Toronto (in-office position).
