Are you a Year 3 university student passionate about AI and healthcare? Join an independent project to help design and build a medical billing application enhanced with AI. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world digital health products and gain hands-on experience taking software from proof of concept to production.
You’ll work alongside a technical lead and collaborate with a medical doctor (non-technical stakeholder) to evolve a medical billing product from concept into production-ready software with AI-integrated features.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the tech lead to turn a proof-of-concept (POC) into production-ready products
• Build and maintain core medical billing application features
• Develop responsive user interfaces
• Contribute to backend services and APIs
• Support database design and integrations
• Ensure basic privacy and security standards are followed (PHIPA/PIPEDA awareness preferred)
• Communicate progress clearly
Requirements
• Current university student (Year 3 preferred)
• Must remain a university student for the duration of the role
• Starting April 2026, commitment of 1–2 years
• Currently enrolled in a Canadian university
• Eligible to work in Canada (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Technical Skills
Experience with some or most of the following:
• React
• Node.js
• Python
• PostgreSQL
• REST APIs and modern web development practices
Nice to Have
• Interest in AI applications in healthcare
• Experience with healthcare billing, claims, or administrative systems
• Knowledge of Canadian privacy regulations (PHIPA, PIPEDA)
• Mobile app development experience (e.g., React Native, Flutter, or similar)
• Portfolio or past projects
