What You Will Do

Our Toronto office is seeking undergraduate students to join the team as a Summer Intern inSummer 2027 as a part of our Deal Advisory practice.

Our Restructuring & Turnaround Team

KPMG's Restructuring & Turnaround professionals, working alongside debtors, lenders, shareholders, and other stakeholders, are able to plan and deliver restructuring actions that assess short-term liquidity requirements and consider actions to quickly preserve value and address potential risks to stability.

You'll be part of a team that provides advice to the primary stakeholders of stressed and distressed businesses in order to help stabilize and implement a process for sustainable strategic, operational, and financial change. You'll help facilitate the turnaround of the performance of our clients' business and assist with restructuring strategies that can enhance or preserve value for all stakeholders.

You will

Conduct financial analysis of companies in a variety of industries, including review of operations and cash flows

Develop complex financial models

Prepare independent business reviews of underperforming companies and assist in presenting findings to secured lenders

Take possession and secure assets through bankruptcies and receiverships

Assist with preparation and distribution of reports

Communicate directly with a variety of stakeholders, including our clients, lenders, employees, and the advisors to stakeholders

Assist with proactive business development initiatives and attend various industry networking events

Perform market research to identify potentially distressed companies

You demonstrate the following

Current university student with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business, Math or equivalent experience

Pursuing a professional designation (i.e., CPA/CA, CBV, CFA)

Ability to prepare detailed, functional financial models, including financial projections

Knowledge of the restructuring and insolvency industry

Strong technical, analytical skills and computer skills (particularly, modeling in Excel)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proven ability to achieve personal and professional success while juggling competing priorities and deadlines

Highly motivated student who strives for excellence, innovation and collaboration

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $45,000 to $62,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
