About the opportunity:

The Food Processing Technician Student will be a member of the R&D Team, based in Toronto, Ontario. Provide technical and analytical support to the R&D product development team members.

The attributes we are looking for:

Operate the pilot plant equipment in the development of new products and/or renovation projects and ensuring compliance to Standard Operating Procedures and Health & Safety Guidelines.

Will work closely with the Research staff in setting up, operating and evaluating experiments. Will operate all equipment and will record all specified observations during experiments. Will request clarification or direction from Research Staff when needed.

Maintaining and ensuring pilot plant and equipment are operated and cleaned to meet quality & food safety. Identify sanitary maintenance and equipment required for repairs.

Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures for existing and new equipment installations.

Capable of manual lifting and manual process.

Responsible to ensure Quality is fundamental in execution of all work activities.

What you will bring:

Currently pursuing a post-secondary education in Food Science, Food Processing, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field of study

Hands-on and technically minded

Strong written/oral interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external sources

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects and the assignments of priorities within the defined project area

Creative problem solving and analytical skills

Compensation:

As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is $21/h – $24+/h.

Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
