Location: Cape Town and Various Sites (Travel Required)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trainee Welder & Field Technician for Met Mast manufacturing and Maintenance. The ideal candidate should be willing to travel to remote sites and stay away from home for up to 3 weeks each month. This position involves welding, machining, and general maintenance work on meteorological masts, both in the workshop and on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the, maintenance, and repair of met masts and related equipment.

Perform welding, machining, and fitting work on met mast structures in the steel factory.

Travel to various sites for maintenance and installation, sometimes for extended periods.

Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with worksite regulations.

Support the field team with technical tasks, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Requirements:

Willingness to travel and stay away from home for up to 3 weeks per month.

No criminal record (background checks will be conducted).

Valid driver's license (copy required).

Completed qualification in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Welding, Fitting, or a related technical field (other relevant qualifications will be considered) (copy required).

Strong technical aptitude and a hands-on approach to tasks.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred but Not Required:

Previous experience with welding, fitting, or similar work is a plus.

Experience working in field environments or with heavy machinery.
