Project Engineers

We are looking to hire a passionate and experienced Project Engineer specializing in Structural or Mechanical Engineering to join our team at FEPL in Kolkata.

The Project Engineer will be a key player in overseeing and executing fabrication projects, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards, within budget, and on schedule. This role requires on-site presence and hands-on management at our fabrication yard.

Key Objectives:

• Lead and coordinate fabrication and assembly projects.

• Ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.

• Apply engineering principles to solve practical challenges.

• Drive project timelines and manage resources efficiently.

4. Detailed ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution

• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.

• Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.

• Ensure that projects comply with engineering standards and client requirements.

Engineering Design & Supervision

• Review and interpret structural and mechanical engineering drawings.

• Supervise fabrication processes including cutting, welding, fitting, and assembly.

• Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues.

Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the main point of contact for project stakeholders including clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

• Prepare and present regular progress reports to management and clients.

• Address client concerns promptly and professionally.

Quality Control & Safety

• Implement quality control processes at every stage of fabrication.

• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Enforce health and safety regulations on-site.

Material & Vendor Coordination

• Identify material requirements and ensure timely procurement.

• Liaise with vendors to maintain supply chain efficiency.

• Evaluate vendor performance and manage contracts.

Team Leadership

• Lead a team of fabricators, welders, and site engineers.

• Conduct daily briefings and assign tasks to team members.

• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

5. Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge in steel structure fabrication and mechanical systems.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

• Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel).

• Leadership and team coordination skills.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Understanding of safety standards and compliance requirements.

• Knowledge of shipbuilding processes is an added advantage.

6. Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering.

• Preferred: Additional certifications in Project Management, Welding Inspection, or NDT.

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in engineering project execution.

• Experience in the shipbuilding, marine, or heavy fabrication sector is desirable.
