Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory Practice based in Dubai is primarily focused on offering the following services:
Portfolio Valuation: Preparing valuation reports utilized for financial reporting, tax, litigation and regulatory purposes
Portfolio Acquisition and Divestiture Services: Assisting alternative investors in the underwriting of large complex transactions
Fairness Opinions: The provision of fairness opinions on various M&A and financial restructuring transactions
Valuation for Transaction-related Purposes: Independent valuation provided to key stakeholders in transaction processes including management, independent board of directors, lenders, trustees and administrators
Internship Overview
We are offering an off-cycle internship opportunity in Dubai within our Portfolio Valuation & Fund Advisory Services practice. This is an exceptional chance to gain hands-on experience in valuation and financial advisory, with responsibilities and exposure similar to that of a first-year analyst.
As an intern, you will be a fully integrated team member, working on a diverse range of valuation assignments involving illiquid debt and equity securities, supporting our clients’ fair value reporting and investment decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the valuation of illiquid debt and equity securities held by private equity firms, hedge funds, credit funds, and other institutional investors
Analyze financial statements, investment memoranda, and transaction documents to understand business operations, capital structures, and key value drivers
Build, update, and review detailed financial models using valuation techniques such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Comparable Company Analysis, and Precedent Transactions
Conduct market and industry research to support valuation assumptions, using databases like Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and other research tools
Identify and benchmark relevant public comparables and precedent M&A transactions to inform valuation conclusions
Participate in internal discussions and external meetings with clients and auditors; support responses to audit reviews and valuation queries
Prepare professional client deliverables including valuation reports, presentation decks, and supporting documentation
Contribute to the preparation of proposals and pitch materials
Perform ad-hoc research and analysis as required by project teams and participate in training and development initiatives within the firm
Qualifications And Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Recent graduate with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Solid academic performance with coursework in accounting and financial analysis
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Proficiency in Excel and financial modelling
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in valuation, financial advisory, or investment banking (Big Four or similar)
Progress towards or completion of CA, CFA, or similar credentials is a plus
Familiarity with financial databases such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ
Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset
Middle East exposure and proficiency in Arabic
