Job Description
Job Purpose
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of natnudO Foods’ fleet operations, ensuring optimal vehicle performance, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and timely distribution.
This role requires strong leadership, logistical planning, and technical expertise to manage the movement of goods, maintain fleet integrity, and support the company’s overall supply chain objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the company’s fleet of vehicles, including trucks, delivery vans, and support vehicles.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to improve fleet performance and efficiency.
Schedule and monitor daily vehicle assignments, routing, and dispatch for timely product delivery.
Oversee vehicle availability and ensure minimal downtime through effective planning and resource allocation.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Coordinate with in-house or third-party mechanics for routine servicing and emergency repairs.
Track and report vehicle maintenance histories and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
Maintain a parts inventory and approve procurement of replacement parts and supplies.
Cost and Fuel Management:
Monitor and control fuel consumption and costs through efficient fuel tracking systems.
Implement cost-saving initiatives such as route optimization, driver training, and fuel-efficient driving practices.
Prepare and manage fleet-related budgets, analyze variances, and report on cost metrics regularly.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards, including vehicle licensing, insurance, and permits.
Enforce health and safety protocols, including driver conduct, accident reporting, and vehicle inspections.
Organize and conduct safety training sessions for drivers and logistics staff.
Personnel Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and fleet maintenance personnel.
Set driver performance targets and KPIs, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Handle driver schedules, leave requests, and disciplinary actions where necessary
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of fleet operations, including mileage logs, maintenance schedules, fuel usage, delivery performance, and incident reports.
Generate weekly/monthly fleet performance and cost analysis reports for senior management.
Utilize fleet management software and GPS tracking systems to monitor fleet activity in real-time.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Transport Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a fleet in a logistics, FMCG, or agribusiness environment.
Strong knowledge of fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and route optimization tools.
Proven ability to manage budgets, analyze data, and implement performance metrics.
Solid understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and familiarity with Nigerian road regulations and transport laws.
